A week ago, I went on a day trip with my best friend, Shima. True to our spontaneous style, we didnât plan anything ahead. While having dinner, Shima suddenly said she wanted to go to the beach, and just like that, we considered it seriously over our meal. By the end of dinner, we were both in.
The next morning, we woke up early and hit the road at 4:30 AM. Our destination? Kuantan, Pahang. The drive from our city took about four hours, and our goal was to arrive by 9:00 AM to avoid the midday sun. Letâs be honest, no one wants to be on a Malaysian beach past noonâit gets way too hot! âď¸
đFirst Stop: Teluk Cempedak
Right on time, we arrived in Teluk Cempedak. This was my first visit, and I was genuinely blown away by how stunning the place was. The water was crystal clear, the sand soft beneath our feet, and the beach vibe was buzzing with life. What surprised me most? Almost every major fast-food chain had a spot thereâit’s like a mini food paradise by the sea! The beach was also impressively clean, very family-friendly, and had plenty of shaded spots under the trees where you could just relax and soak it all in.
We spent a couple of hours walking around, taking photos, and just enjoying the view.Â
â What You Need to Know:
-
Parking: RM2.50 per entry
-
Monkeys: Theyâre everywhere! đ Donât bring food out in the openâthey will try to snatch it. Hold on to your bags and stay alert, especially near the wooden bridge.
-
Bridge Walk: A scenic walk with beach views and plenty of monkeys (again, mind your stepsâdonât accidentally step on their tails.
-
Bring water: Bring water, wear sunscreen, and pack a hat. It gets really hot.
-
Health tip: I removed my mask only for photos. Please wear yours when needed and bring hand sanitizer too.
đNext Stop: Cherating BeachÂ
After Teluk Cempedak, we decided to head to Cherating Beach, which was about a 30-minute drive away. Itâs a quieter beach compared to Teluk Cempedak. We didnât stay long here because there wasnât much going on, but we did take a few nice photos and enjoyed the peaceful vibe.
đA Must-Try: Izz Keropok Lekor
Before leaving Cherating, we went to try the famous Keropok Lekor at Izz Keropok Lekor. According to Shima, itâs the best in townâand I totally agree. It was so good! If youâre ever in the area, donât skip this place. The keropok was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and perfect with the sweet & spicy dipping sauce.
đLunch Time: Restoran Claypot Patin Tempoyak
For our late lunch, we went to Restoran Claypot Patin Tempoyak. We ordered:
-
Patin Tempoyak: It was quite spicy for me, but full of flavor.
-
Ikan Tilapia Goreng: Super crispy and delicious!
The food here was really satisfying, especially after a long day in the sun.
Wrapping Up
We left Kuantan around 6:00 PM and drove back home with happy hearts and full bellies. It was such a fun, spontaneous tripâjust like the old days. I love these unplanned getaways, and I canât wait for our next one!
Until my next entry! â¨
