I Don’t Have To Be “Like The Others.” I Can Own My Lane

“Why don’t you join TikTok? You’d get so many followers!”

I’ve been asked this question more times than I can count. People assume that being a blogger automatically means I should be on every platform, especially video-based ones. They say it’s the fastest way

✅ to be noticed,

✅ to go viral,

✅ to build a name.

While I understand where they’re coming from, my answer is always the same:

I don’t have to be like the others. I can own my lane.

The truth is, I’m not chasing fame. I keep my online life very minimal. The only social media I use is Instagram, and even then, I spend very little time on it. I don’t have TikTok, and I don’t feel the need for it. On most days, I only hold my phone for about two hours in total; just enough to stay connected, not consumed.

When I was younger, I thought fame would be the ultimate goal—people recognizing me, the world knowing my name. But as I grew older and saw how it really works, I realized it doesn’t align with the life I want to live.

I love my privacy.

I love walking into a café unnoticed, enjoying my coffee quietly, and not worrying about who’s watching or what people might say.

Fame may look glamorous, but it often comes at the cost of freedom and peace. That’s not the life I want. What I do want is to create a space where my writing can reach the right people—

✅ those searching for stories,

✅ reflections,

✅ and encouragement that I offer.

That, to me, is far more meaningful than being known by everyone.

I’m also honest enough to admit: I don’t have the passion for video creation because it’s simply not where my energy flows naturally. Recording, editing, and keeping up with endless trends takes hours of work…

And that doesn’t excite me.

Everyone has their own strengths, and I genuinely admire people who can craft beautiful, engaging videos—sometimes I even wish I had that skill. But I know my strength lies in writing, and I choose to honor that. Writing feels natural to me… effortless, and deeply fulfilling. It’s where my creativity shines the most. Through words, I can express emotions, stories, and ideas in ways that short videos often cannot capture. This is my craft, my passion, and my voice. Just as video creators shine in their art, I shine in mine.

And while videos can go viral and disappear overnight, writing has something videos often lack: longevity. A blog post can sit quietly on the internet and still be found years later, all thanks to search engines like Google. Someone who needs guidance, inspiration, or even comfort might stumble upon my words at just the right time. That’s the kind of reach I value—not fleeting attention, but meaningful connection.

I know I may never have millions of followers, and that’s perfectly fine. Because in my lane, success is not defined by numbers. It’s defined by impact. If even a handful of people find value in what I write, if my words help them feel less alone or more inspired, then I’ve already achieved more than enough.

So, no—I don’t need to join TikTok. I don’t need to create endless videos to prove my worth. I just need to stay true to what I do best. My writing is my legacy, my offering, and my way of leaving a mark. I’d rather own my lane fully than try to run in someone else’s.

And maybe that’s something you need to hear, too. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing to be seen, loved, or valued. Your lane—whatever it is—is enough. When you honor your strengths and passions, you’ll find the right people who are meant to connect with your work.

That’s where the real magic happens.

Love,
Auri Duham.

If my words made your day, a coffee would make mine.🥰
