The first time I had lunch here, I went with the same colleague who actually suggested we check this restaurant out—and it was also the perfect chance to celebrate her birthday. What started as a casual lunch quickly became one of those meals you keep thinking about long after it’s over. Since that day, I haven’t stopped gushing about this restaurant, because honestly, the chicken here is that good!
So when the New Year rolled around, it felt only right to return. This time, we went again because I had promised to treat her to another K-Fry visit. It was the perfect way to kick off 2026—enjoying delicious food, great company, and taking a little pause from work to reconnect. In a way, it felt like renewing our friendship over fried chicken, because let’s be real: finding a truly trustworthy friend at work isn’t easy. 😂

We Ordered Something Different This Time
It took us a while to decide what to order, but honestly, I already knew what I wanted long before we even arrived—I just needed her to agree. As we stared at the menu, one thing was clear: I didn’t want to repeat what we ordered last time. So I suggested we try the cheesy fried chicken instead. I really wanted her to experience it too, especially since I had tried it at another restaurant before and she hadn’t. Thankfully, she agreed!
We went with the Mixed Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk, which came with a total of 12 pieces—6 spicy yangnyeom and 6 honey mustard in one pan. Despite the restaurant being packed with customers, our order arrived quite fast. Ordering was super easy too, since everything was done via QR code, so we didn’t need to interact with the staff.
She tried to convince me to go for the mini set, but I wasn’t confident it would be enough. So I said, “Let’s just go for the full cheesy fried chicken.” We felt pretty confident about our choice and even added garlic rice as an extra, thinking the chicken alone wouldn’t be enough to fill us up.
Turns out, we were wrong.
The chicken pieces were generous in size, boneless, and very filling. At most, each of us could only manage about 3 pieces. Honestly, one order could easily be shared by 4 people. It was funny how confident we were at first, only to end up struggling and practically having to force ourselves just to finish the rice.

When the chicken arrived, the waiter prepared it right in front of us. He separated the chicken and fries onto different plates, then started heating the cheese. Once it melted, he wrapped each piece of chicken one by one in that warm, gooey cheese. Watching him do it while our stomachs grumbled made it nearly impossible to wait!
Of course, while the chicken got its cheesy coat, we happily munched on the fries. 🥰
The chicken was everything we hoped for—absolutely delicious! I didn’t expect the honey mustard to become my favorite this time, since I usually go for the spicy ones. And interestingly, the spicy chicken I picked wasn’t as fiery as I remembered. Maybe I ordered something different that day, or maybe the cheese helped mellow out the heat.
I just wish they had wrapped the whole chicken pieces in cheese, instead of just the middle—different from my experience at Sweetree Restaurant. But overall, the quality and flavor were top-notch, and I loved every bite.
It’s More Than Just a Meal
The total for our meal came to just over RM90 but under RM100. So if you plan to order the same, you’ll have a good idea of what to expect—it’s a pretty standard price for Korean cheesy chicken. Even with that amount, I was completely satisfied. Every bite was worth it, and the money felt well spent. We then asked the waiter to pack the leftover chicken to take home; it would’ve been a shame to let it go to waste.
Before heading back to the office, we took a little detour to walk around and capture some memories at a photo booth, which cost us RM20. My colleague, being Gen Z, was full of excitement, and honestly, it was contagious. Watching her enjoy it made me realize how rarely I pause to savor joyful, fleeting moments like this—and how much I’m missing out. A silly photo or a shared laugh might seem small at the time, but those are the moments that stick with you long after the day is over.
As we finished our lunch, I realized it wasn’t just about the food—it was about the people you share it with, and how rare and valuable genuine connections at work can be. I don’t connect with everyone easily, and trusting people at work hasn’t always come naturally. I tend to be cautious, so it takes time for me to open up. That’s why I’m especially grateful for her—someone I can laugh with, share little moments with, and genuinely enjoy spending time with.
Moments like these, simple as they seem, are the ones that truly fill your heart.

Until our next lunch!
