Every time I walked past K Fry, there was always a queue outside. Not just a few people waiting… sometimes the line stretched far enough to make me turn around and look for somewhere else to eat. I started wondering… was the chicken really that good?
The problem was, I’m not the most patient person when it comes to waiting for food. 😂 As much as I love Korean fried chicken, standing in line for half an hour has never sounded like a good time to me. So every visit to K Fry ended exactly the same way.
“Maybe next time.”
That “next time” finally came when one of my colleagues suggested we have lunch there together. That’s also when I discovered something I wish I’d known much earlier. You can actually reserve a table online.
“Perfect!” I thought. “No more waiting.”
Well… Not exactly. 😂 A reservation gives you priority, but it doesn’t completely eliminate the queue. We still waited about 20 minutes before getting our table.
Was it worth the wait?
After hearing so many people rave about K Fry over the years, I was finally about to find out.
✅ About K Fry Urban Korean
K Fry (slang for Korean fried chicken) is a homegrown Malaysian restaurant brand inspired by the bold flavours of Korean cuisine. Founded in 2016, it has grown into one of Malaysia’s most popular Korean restaurant chains, with outlets across several states.
The name itself is a playful nod to Korean fried chicken, which has become the restaurant’s signature and biggest crowd-puller. Blending authentic Korean flavours with a modern dining experience, K Fry serves not only its famous fried chicken but also a variety of Korean comfort food, making it a popular choice for both Korean food lovers and those trying it for the first time.
Another milestone for the brand is its official Halal certification, making it an easy choice for Malaysians who want to enjoy Korean cuisine with confidence. Today, K Fry has multiple outlets across Malaysia, making it one of the country’s most popular Korean restaurant chains.
✅ First Impressions
Stepping inside, I immediately understood why K Fry attracts such a crowd. Even though the restaurant was busy, it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. The dining area was spacious, with plenty of seating for both small groups and larger gatherings, so everything still felt organised despite the constant flow of customers.
Like most Korean restaurants, K Fry had modern Korean café vibes. The décor was simple yet stylish, while Korean songs played softly in the background, adding to the atmosphere without making it difficult to have a conversation.
What impressed me most was how efficiently everything was managed. The staff kept the queue moving smoothly, and once we were seated, we were handed the menu almost immediately. Ordering was done through a QR code, making the whole process quick and straightforward.
Despite how packed the restaurant was, the staff remained friendly and helpful throughout our visit, which made the experience feel even more welcoming.

✅ The Menu & What We Ordered
K Fry may be famous for its Korean fried chicken, but there’s plenty more on the menu than just chicken.
Alongside its signature fried chicken, you’ll also find a variety of Korean comfort food, making it a great place for a quick lunch or a meal to share with family and friends.
🍗 Fried Chicken Flavours
- Original – simple and classic. If you like your chicken without the extra fuss, this is the one.
- Garlic Soya – slightly sweet with a strong garlic aroma. This one feels like comfort food for garlic lovers.
- Spicy Yangnyeom – sweet, spicy, sticky… the kind that makes you reach for another piece even when your mouth is on fire.
- Yangnyeom – similar to the spicy version but toned down, great if you want flavor without the heat.
- Honey Butter – a sweet, buttery glaze that’s surprisingly addictive.
- Snow Cheese Chicken – Crispy fried chicken generously coated in fluffy cheese, another favourite among cheese lovers.
You can also choose your preferred cut, whether it’s wings, boneless chicken, or larger sharing portions. This makes it super flexible depending on your appetite or how many people you’re sharing with.
🥢 More Than Just Chicken
If you’re in the mood for other Korean favourites, K Fry also serves:
- Tteokbokki – spicy, chewy rice cakes.
- Japchae – stir-fried glass noodles with vegetables.
- Riceballs – bite-sized Korean rice with savory fillings.
- Myeon – classic Korean noodles.
- Pajeon – savory Korean pancakes.
For my first visit, there was never really any question about what I was going to order. I always go straight for the spicy option. My colleague and I ordered one of the chicken sets (spicy yangnyeom flavour), which came with a choice of banchan. I went with the salad, tteokbokki, and rice, a simple combination that balanced the spicy chicken really well.
Another thing I appreciated was the complimentary cold water. Since the chicken already packed plenty of flavour, we didn’t feel the need to order any drinks.
I’ve also tried K Fry’s bingsu on another visit, and I really enjoyed it. The shaved ice was incredibly soft and fluffy, almost like snow, and it wasn’t overly sweet. After a rich and spicy meal, I thought it made a wonderfully refreshing dessert.

✅ My Take On The Flavour
I’ve eaten Korean fried chicken at plenty of places over the years, and one thing I’ve learned is not to get my hopes up whenever I see the word “spicy” on the menu. More often than not, it’s only mildly hot.
K Fry changed that completely. Without exaggeration, this is the spiciest Korean fried chicken I’ve ever eaten.
The restaurant offers three spice levels: Mild, Spicy, and Extra Spicy. Thinking I could handle it, I confidently chose Spicy.
Let’s just say… I’m very glad I didn’t try to be a hero and order Extra Spicy. 😂 My lips were burning. I was sweating. My nose was starting to run. And yet…
I couldn’t stop eating.

The chicken was coated generously in sauce instead of the thin drizzle you sometimes get elsewhere. Every piece was sticky, rich, flavour-packed, and incredibly satisfying.
The banchan we ordered, especially the salad, tteokbokki, and rice, helped balance the heat nicely between bites, making the whole meal feel surprisingly well-rounded.
If you’re someone who loves your fried chicken extra crispy, then Kyochon might still be your first choice. But when it comes to the sauce? K Fry wins… hands down.
I’ve since returned to K Fry several times, including ordering takeaway, and I’m happy to say the quality has remained consistent every single time. The chicken is still generously coated in sauce, packed with flavour, and just as satisfyingly spicy as I remembered.

✅ Was It Worth the Price?
Compared to many Korean restaurants I’ve visited, I’d say K Fry sits comfortably in the mid-range price category. It’s not the cheapest place for Korean fried chicken, but considering the generous portions, quality ingredients, and consistently good flavours, I genuinely think it’s worth the price.
During my first visit, my colleague and I ordered one of their promotional weekday sets, which cost RM29.90. It came with fried chicken, a choice of banchan, and rice, making it excellent value for a satisfying meal.
Outside of the promotional sets, most fried chicken dishes range between RM25 and RM50, depending on the flavour, portion size, and whether you choose wings, boneless chicken, or a larger sharing set.
If you’re looking for a budget meal, there are certainly cheaper options elsewhere. But if you don’t mind spending a little more for flavour, generous portions, and consistently good Korean fried chicken, I think K Fry offers good value for money.

✅ Final Thoughts
Would I come back?
Absolutely.
In fact, by the time you’re reading this, I already have. 😄 That second visit only confirmed what I felt after my very first meal. K Fry has become one of my favourite places whenever I’m craving Korean fried chicken, and that’s not something I say lightly.
One small piece of advice, though…
Don’t underestimate the Spicy Yangnyeom.
I thought I could handle it, but it definitely pushed my limits. My stomach wasn’t entirely happy afterwards… yet somehow, I still found myself craving another visit. For me, it’s:
“Enjoy the chicken first, deal with the consequences later.” 😂
So yeah, if you’re not a fan of spicy, stick with the mild option… but trust me, no matter which level you pick, K Fry’s chicken is absolutely worth it!
