The first time I visited K Fry, I walked away thinking,
“Yep… I’ll definitely be coming back.”
The chicken was incredibly good, but what made that lunch even more memorable was the company. My colleague was the one who introduced me to K Fry, and what started as a casual lunch quickly became one of those afternoons I kept thinking about long after it was over.
So when the new year rolled around, I knew exactly where I wanted to take her.
I’d promised to treat her to another K Fry lunch, and honestly, it felt like the perfect way to kick off the year. In a way, it also felt like renewing our friendship over fried chicken. 😂
If you haven’t read about my first visit to K Fry yet, you can check it out here: K-Fry Urban Korean: The Spiciest Korean Chicken I’ve Ever Eaten, where I shared everything from the restaurant itself to the chicken that completely won me over.
This visit, though, wasn’t about repeating our favourites. We wanted to try something different…
✅ What We Ordered This Time
Even before we arrived, I already knew what I wanted.
The Mixed Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk had been sitting on my must-try list ever since my first visit, and this time, I wasn’t leaving without trying it.
The only challenge?
Convincing my colleague. 😂
She thought the mini set would be enough for the two of us. I wasn’t so sure.
“Let’s just get the full one,” I said with far more confidence than I probably should have.
After all, we weren’t ordering much else… surely we’d be able to finish a full pan of chicken, right? Well… That confidence disappeared pretty quickly. 😂
We went for the full Mixed Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk, which came with 12 boneless chicken pieces, split between six Spicy Yangnyeom and six Honey Mustard, so we could enjoy two different flavours in one meal.
Ordering was just as easy as I remembered too. Everything was ordered through a QR code, so within a few minutes, our order was in.
Thinking the chicken alone wouldn’t be enough, we also added a serving of garlic rice.
Looking back now…
Adding the garlic rice might have been our biggest mistake. 😆

✅ Here’s How It Went Down
Despite the restaurant being packed, our food arrived surprisingly quickly. The best part? The experience didn’t begin with the first bite.
It began right at our table.
Instead of simply placing the pan down and walking away, one of the staff carefully separated the chicken and fries onto different plates before placing the pan over a portable burner. Then came the fun part. He slowly heated the cheese until it became perfectly smooth and stretchy, before wrapping each piece of chicken one by one in that warm, gooey blanket of melted cheese.
Watching it happen while our stomachs were already rumbling was honestly torture… in the best possible way. 😂
Thankfully, the fries gave us something to nibble on while we waited.

The moment we finally took our first bite, we both looked at each other and smiled. It was exactly what we’d been hoping for.
The melted cheese added a rich, creamy layer without overpowering the chicken itself. Instead, it complemented the flavours beautifully, making every bite feel even more comforting and indulgent.
What surprised me most, though, was the Honey Mustard chicken.
I’m usually the type who goes straight for anything spicy, so I was convinced the Spicy Yangnyeom would be my favourite again. Instead… I kept reaching for the Honey Mustard. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and savouriness and paired so well with the melted cheese that I kept going back for another piece without even thinking about it.
The Spicy Yangnyeom was still delicious, but interestingly, it didn’t taste nearly as fiery as I remembered from my first visit. I’m not sure if the cheese mellowed the heat or if this batch was simply milder, but it made the spicy flavour much easier to enjoy.
If I had one small suggestion, it would be the way the cheese was served.
I would’ve loved to see every piece fully wrapped in the melted cheese instead of having it mainly around the middle. It’s only a small detail, but I think it would’ve made every bite even more satisfying.
Still, that’s a very minor complaint.
The chicken was juicy, generously coated in sauce, and every bit as flavourful as I remembered. If anything, this second visit only confirmed why K Fry remains one of my favourite places whenever I’m craving Korean fried chicken.
✅ Was It Worth Ordering?
For everything we ordered, our bill came to just under RM100, including the garlic rice.
The Mixed Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk was much more filling than either of us expected. The chicken pieces were surprisingly bigger than expected, and with 12 boneless pieces, a generous amount of melted cheese, fries, and our extra garlic rice, we had seriously overestimated how much we could eat.
After about three pieces of chicken each, both of us were already full. Meanwhile, the garlic rice we’d confidently ordered was still sitting there waiting for us. 😂
Safe to say…
My colleague was right. The mini set probably would’ve been enough after all.
Rather than forcing ourselves to finish everything, we asked the staff to pack the remaining chicken to take home. Looking back, I think the generous portion was one of the biggest surprises of the meal.
If you’re planning to order the Mixed Cheesy Fried Chicken Bumbuk, I’d recommend sharing it with three or even four people, especially if you’re ordering extra dishes on the side. It’s far more filling than it looks.
As for the price, I honestly thought it was fair. Between the generous portions, quality ingredients, and the fun tableside cheese presentation, it felt like money well spent.
✅ More Than Just Fried Chicken
Before heading back to the office, we decided to walk around the mall for a while. There wasn’t really a plan. We were simply enjoying the afternoon and trying to make the most of the little time we had together before returning to work. As we wandered around, we spotted one of those photo booths.
“Should we?”
A few seconds later, we were already squeezing ourselves into the tiny booth, laughing while trying to decide which poses to do. It cost us RM20, but honestly… I don’t think either of us cared.
My colleague, being Gen Z, was completely in her element. 😂 Watching her excitement was surprisingly contagious, and before I knew it, I was laughing just as much as she was. It made me realise something. Somewhere along the way, I’d forgotten how nice it feels to do something simply because it’s fun.
No agenda. No rushing. Just two friends making memories in the middle of an ordinary workday. A few silly photos. A lot of laughter. By the end of the afternoon, I realised this lunch was never really just about the food. It was about spending time with someone I genuinely enjoy being around.
Finding people you truly trust at work isn’t always easy. I’m naturally quite cautious, so it takes me a long time to open up to someone. That’s why I never take friendships like this for granted.
Good food fills your stomach. Good company fills your heart. And somehow, that combination always makes an ordinary afternoon feel a little more special.
