Tadom Hill Resort, Banting: My Overnight Experience (Is It Worth Visiting?)

Some places stay on your bucket list for years without you ever getting around to visiting them. For me, Tadom Hill Resort was one of those places.

Ever since I started seeing photos of its bamboo structures, beautiful lake, and nature-inspired accommodation all over social media, I’d been curious to experience it for myself. When the Chinese New Year holiday came around, I finally decided it was time.

To make the trip even more meaningful, I turned it into a little reunion with a friend I hadn’t seen in almost 15 years. We spent the weekend catching up, escaping the city, and seeing whether Tadom Hill really lived up to its reputation.

So… was it worth the wait?

Here’s my honest review after spending a night at Tadom Hill Resort.

✅ First Impressions

The moment we arrived, it immediately felt different from most resorts I’d visited before.

Almost everything here is built from bamboo, from the walkways and gazebos to the accommodation itself. Combined with the lake, lush greenery, and open spaces, the whole place has a peaceful kampung atmosphere that’s perfect if you’re looking to disconnect from city life for a while.

We visited during the public holiday, so it was much busier than I expected. Families, groups of friends, and day visitors filled the resort throughout the afternoon. At first, it didn’t quite have the relaxing atmosphere I’d imagined.

Thankfully, everything changed after sunset.

By around 6:30 PM, most of the day visitors had already left, leaving only overnight guests behind. The resort suddenly became much quieter, and that’s when I finally got to enjoy the peaceful side of Tadom Hill.

✅ Staying Overnight at Tadom Hill

We booked the Bamboo Lakeside Tent Site for our stay.

Although the tent itself was comfortable enough for one night, I probably wouldn’t choose this section again.

Our tent wasn’t actually facing the lake. Instead, it was located directly opposite one of the public gazebos, so every time we unzipped the tent, there were people sitting right outside. It wasn’t exactly the privacy I’d imagined.

If I ever come back, I’d definitely book the Bamboo Garden Tent Site instead. It looked much more private, had nicer surroundings, and was also closer to the toilets.

Trust me, that’s something you’ll appreciate when nature calls in the middle of the night. 😅

✅ Day Pass or Overnight Stay?

If you’re only planning to spend a few hours here, you can simply purchase a day pass.

However, I personally think staying overnight gives you a much better experience.

Even though official check-in starts at 3:00 PM, overnight guests are allowed to enter the resort earlier by showing their online booking confirmation at the entrance and let them know you want to explore the resort first. They’ll give you a bamboo visitor pass. That means you can start exploring before checking into your room later in the day. You’ll be given a wristband called the “Tadom Groove”

Your overnight stay also includes:

  • Breakfast
  • Unlimited access to the lake activities

Free parking is available too, but I’d recommend arriving early, especially on weekends or public holidays, because the car park fills up surprisingly fast.

✅ Food at Tadom Hill Resort

There are two restaurants inside the resort serving both local and Western food.

We ended up trying both, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Western menu. The grilled chicken with black pepper sauce was honestly delicious and ended up being my favourite meal during the trip.

The prices were reasonable for a resort, so there’s really no need to leave the property if you’re staying overnight.

✅ Who Should Visit Tadom Hill?

I think Tadom Hill is best suited for:

  • Nature lovers
  • Families
  • Groups of friends
  • School or company team-building trips
  • Anyone looking for a short escape from Kuala Lumpur

If you’re expecting a luxury glamping experience or a romantic honeymoon destination, this probably isn’t the right place.

The charm of Tadom Hill isn’t luxury. It’s about slowing down, enjoying nature, and spending quality time outdoors.

✅ Things to Do at Tadom Hill

I’ll be honest.

When we first arrived, we weren’t entirely sure what to do.

The weather was incredibly hot, the resort was crowded, and we spent most of our time relaxing in one of the treehouses while waiting for check-in.

Everything became much more enjoyable later in the afternoon after we’d settled into our tent and the weather had cooled down.

💡 Lake Activities

The lake is the main attraction at Tadom Hill.

Guests can enjoy bamboo rafting, rope swings, floating platforms, bamboo hammocks, and other water activities throughout the day.

The scenery was beautiful, but I personally decided not to get into the water because there was a slight smell during our visit. It might not bother everyone, but it just wasn’t for me.

💡 ATV Adventure

Without a doubt, this was the highlight of our trip.

If you’re wondering whether the ATV ride is worth paying for, my answer is absolutely yes.

For about 45 minutes, we rode through muddy jungle trails, climbed steep hills, splashed through puddles, and bounced over rough terrain. It was messy, exciting, and so much fun.

Our instructor was incredibly friendly too. He even stopped several times to help us take photos and videos, making the whole experience even more memorable.

If I ever visit Tadom Hill again, this would be the first activity I’d book.

💡 Other Activities

Besides the lake and ATV rides, you’ll also find:

  • Flying Fox
  • Traditional Malaysian games
  • Bamboo treehouses
  • Plenty of relaxing spots overlooking the lake

The traditional games are especially fun if you’re visiting with children or introducing international friends to a few classic Malaysian games.

✅ Things I’d Recommend Bringing

To make your stay more comfortable, I’d suggest packing:

  • Sunscreen
  • Toiletries (they aren’t provided)
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Sports shoes or sandals
  • Towel
  • Power bank
  • Small backpack

Since the tents aren’t very spacious, travelling light will make things much easier.

✅ Final Thoughts

Tadom Hill Resort isn’t perfect.

The cleanliness could definitely be improved in some areas, and unless you enjoy water activities, you may find that there isn’t enough to keep you busy for more than one night.

Even so, I genuinely enjoyed the experience.

The bamboo concept gives the resort its own unique character, the peaceful atmosphere after sunset was exactly what I needed, and the ATV adventure ended up being one of the most fun outdoor activities I’ve done in a while.

If I ever return, I’d visit on a weekday instead of a public holiday and book the Bamboo Garden Tent Site instead.

Would I recommend Tadom Hill?

Yes, especially if you’re looking for a quick nature escape close to Kuala Lumpur. Just go with the right expectations. Come to relax, slow down, and enjoy the outdoors rather than expecting a packed itinerary.

Sometimes that’s exactly the kind of getaway we need.

Until next time,
Hani 🌿
