Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser: My Experience with Acne-Prone Skin

Finding skincare that works for acne-prone skin can be such a headache. You never really know whether a new product will become your next favourite or leave you dealing with even more breakouts.

Back in early 2017, I was struggling with my skin. I had pimples all over my face, redness and irritation. It was bad enough that I decided to stop using all my usual beauty and skincare products, including makeup, and start over.

I wanted to give my skin a break and figure out what worked for me.

That’s when Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser came into the picture. Funny enough, I didn’t discover it through an advertisement or a beauty blog. I found out about it through my youngest brother!

✅ How I Discovered Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser

My youngest brother struggled with acne too. One day, I noticed that his skin looked clearer, so I asked him what he had been using.

His answer? Aiken Moisturiser.

Of course, I was curious. If it seemed to be working well for him, I thought I’d give it a try too.

I remember liking how my skin felt after applying it. My face felt fresh and smooth, and over the next few days, I noticed that my breakouts seemed to settle down.

I was happy! At a time when I was trying to figure out what to do with my skin, finding an affordable moisturiser that seemed to suit me felt like a small win.

Around that period, I was keeping my skincare routine simple. I stopped wearing makeup, washed my face with warm water, used a clean towel dedicated to my face and visited a skin clinic for a professional facial treatment.

I was trying to be more careful about what I put on my skin rather than keep switching between products.

Aiken eventually became one of the moisturisers I enjoyed using during that phase of my skincare journey.

✅ What I Liked About Aiken Moisturiser

  • It felt comfortable on my skin

One thing I liked about Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser was how fresh and smooth my skin felt after applying it.

Its lightweight, water-based formula makes it an option for those who prefer a moisturiser that doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on the skin.

  • It contains tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is commonly used in skincare products formulated for blemish-prone skin. It has been studied for its potential role in managing acne, although the evidence is limited.

If you’re looking for a moisturiser containing tea tree oil, Aiken is one option to consider. Keep in mind that tea tree oil can irritate some skin types, so it’s worth checking the ingredients before use.

  • It was affordable

Skincare doesn’t always have to cost a fortune. Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser is a budget-friendly option for those looking to add a moisturiser to their skincare routine without spending too much.

When I first used it, its affordable price was one of the things I appreciated. It was nice to find a product I enjoyed using without having to spend a lot.

  • It’s designed for oily and combination skin

According to Aiken, its Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser has a lightweight, water-based formula designed for oily and combination skin. The brand also describes it as non-comedogenic, meaning it is formulated to reduce the likelihood of clogged pores.

This makes it worth considering if you prefer a lighter moisturiser for skin that tends to become oily or develop blemishes.

You can find more product information on Aiken’s official website.

✅ Packaging and Price

I remember Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser coming in a pump bottle when I first used it. Later, I came across different packaging and wondered whether it was still the same product.

If you come across a different-looking bottle or container, check the product name and ingredient list rather than relying on the packaging alone. I haven’t verified whether the current formulation is identical to the one I used back in 2017.

Back in 2017, the price was around RM11 to RM15.

The price has changed since then. At the time of updating this article, Watsons Malaysia listed the 75ml moisturiser at RM15.80, with a promotional price of RM13.43. Prices and promotions can change, so check the listing before purchasing.

✅ Is Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser Worth Trying?

Looking back at my experience in 2017, Aiken Tea Tree Oil Moisturiser was a product I enjoyed using when I was struggling with acne-prone skin. I liked how my skin felt after applying it, and its affordable price was another plus.

Based on its focus on oily and acne-prone skin, I think it may be worth considering for younger people dealing with these concerns. If you have mature skin or are looking for a moisturiser to address dryness, fine lines or other signs of ageing, you might need something that better suits those needs. That doesn’t mean it won’t work for mature skin, though, as everyone’s skin is different.

I wouldn’t promise that it’ll do the same for you. Acne can have different causes, and our skin doesn’t always respond to the same products in the same way.

If you’re thinking of trying, introduce it gradually and patch-test it first. Stop using it if you experience persistent irritation. If your acne is painful, severe or leaving scars, consider consulting a dermatologist for advice on suitable treatment.

It’s been years since I first tried this moisturiser, so I wanted to update this post while keeping my original experience. I hope it helps if you’re researching Aiken or simply looking for an affordable moisturiser to add to your list of options.

Auri Duham 🌻
