K Fry Urban Korean is one of the most popular Korean chicken restaurants in Malaysia, and I’ve always wondered why there’s almost always a queue outside waiting for a table. Being the type who doesn’t like waiting around, I never bothered to go—even though I’m a huge fan of Korean fried chicken.
Recently, one of my colleagues suggested we try it, and that’s when I found out you can actually make a reservation online. I thought,
“Great! No waiting in line!
But it turns out that a reservation only gives you priority… it doesn’t completely eliminate the wait. When we arrived, we still had to wait about 20 minutes before getting our table.
If you haven’t been to K Fry Urban Korean and have been wondering whether it’s worth the hype, you’re in the right place—let me share my experience, from the food to the atmosphere, and whether it really lives up to all the buzz!
✅ What Is K Fry Urban Korean?
K Fry Urban Korean—“K Fry” (slang for Korean fried chicken)—is a homegrown Korean restaurant brand that specialises in authentic Korean fried chicken and hearty Korean dishes, all served with a modern, urban twist. It’s the kind of place where classic Korean flavors meet a contemporary dining vibe, making it a favorite for both foodies and fans of Korean cuisine.
✅ Where Is The Restaurant Located?
Good news! K Fry isn’t just in Kuala Lumpur—it also has outlets in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. Hopefully, they’ll expand to even more states in Malaysia soon.
Here Are The Outlets:
- K Fry 1 Utama Shopping Center
- K Fry IOI City Mall Putrajaya
- K Fry Suria KLCC
- K Fry Sunway Pyramid
- K Fry KL East Mall
- K Fry Setia City Mall
- K Fry The Exchange TRX
- K Fry Seremban Oasis
- K Fry Holiday Villa Johor Bahru
- K Fry Old Street Batu Pahat
I visited the outlet at IOI City, Putrajaya, since it’s the closest to where I live. At each outlet, you can book a table in advance. You can make your reservation here: [K Fry Table Booking]
✅ What’s On The Menu?
At K Fry Urban Korean, the spotlight is definitely the Korean fried chicken—but there’s a lot more on the menu too. You’ll find a variety of chicken styles, sauces, and other Korean dishes that make it easy for everyone to find something they like.
✨ Fried Chicken Flavours
Here are the flavours you can pick from:
- Original – simple and classic. If you like your chicken without the extra fuss, this is the one.
- Garlic Soya – slightly sweet with a strong garlic aroma. This one feels like comfort food for garlic lovers.
- Spicy Yangnyeom – sweet, spicy, sticky… the kind that makes you reach for another piece even when your mouth is on fire.
- Yangnyeom – similar to the spicy version but toned down, great if you want flavor without the heat.
- Honey Butter – a sweet, buttery glaze that’s surprisingly addictive.
And for the cheese enthusiasts, there’s the famous Snow Cheese Chicken—basically chicken wrapped in fluffy cheese. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my list for my next visit, because people keep saying it’s a must-order.
With each flavor, you can choose which part of the chicken you want—wings, boneless, or even half a chicken if you’re with a group. This makes it super flexible depending on your appetite or how many people you’re sharing with.
But it’s not just chicken. If you’re craving more Korean comfort food, K Fry has:
- Tteokbokki – spicy, chewy rice cakes.
- Japchae – stir-fried glass noodles with vegetables.
- Riceballs – bite-sized Korean rice with savory fillings.
- Myeon – classic Korean noodles.
- Pajeon – savory Korean pancakes.
For dessert, I’ve tried their bingsu, and honestly…I loved it. It’s that classic Korean shaved ice dessert, soft and fluffy like snow. The one I tried was refreshing without being overly sweet, which was perfect after all the rich and savoury dishes.

✅ My Take On The Flavour
I always go for the spicy option when it comes to Korean fried chicken (so I picked Spicy Yangnyeom)—because for me, that’s where the real kick is. But honestly, I’ve learned not to expect much from most places. The “spicy” is usually… not really spicy.
K Fry changed that completely!
This is, without exaggeration, the spiciest Korean fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. They offer 3 levels—Mild, Spicy, and Extra Spicy—and I’m genuinely glad I didn’t try to be a hero and pick Extra Spicy. I went with Spicy, and even that felt like a full-on challenge. My lips were burning, I was sweating… and yet, I couldn’t stop eating.

The last time I went with my colleague, we ordered a set that came with banchan. I picked the salad, tteokbokki, and rice… a simple combination, but it balanced the heat really well. We skipped ordering drinks since the restaurant serves complimentary cold water.
The moment I took my first bite, I understood why people queue outside. The chicken was coated generously in sauce, not the stingy drizzle some places do. The flavour was bold, rich, and addictive. If you’re someone who loves their chicken ultra crispy, then Kyochon might be more your style. But when it comes to sauce, K Fry wins… hands down!
Even when I ordered takeaway last weekend, the quality was the same: saucy, flavour-packed, and intensely spicy, but oh my… it was satisfying.
✅ How Much Is The Price?
As someone who’s been to many Korean restaurants, I’d say K Fry sits comfortably within the standard price range. It’s not the cheapest, but definitely not overpriced for what you get.
On weekdays, it’s even better because they usually offer promotional sets. For example, the set I had previously was only RM29.90, which is honestly a great deal considering the portion and sides included.
For the main menu, the fried chicken typically ranges from RM25 to RM50, depending on the flavour and whether you’re ordering wings, boneless, or larger sharing portions. They do have some pricier items, but in my opinion, the quality, flavour, and overall experience make it worth the price.
If you’re someone who values good sauce, solid portions, and consistent quality, K Fry delivers exactly that.
✅ Ambience and Vibe
The outlet I visited was inside a mall, so naturally it had that lively mall atmosphere; people chatting and moving in and out of the restaurant, the usual buzz. But once you step into K Fry, the space feels surprisingly spacious. They have plenty of seating, from small tables for two to larger setups for groups, which makes it easy for any type of diner to fit right in.
Thanks to the size of the restaurant, the queue moves fairly quickly. The staff manage the flow efficiently, and once seated, the menu arrives almost immediately. Ordering via the QR code is also smooth and straightforward.
Like most Korean restaurants, K Fry sets the mood with Korean songs playing in the background. The décor also leans toward modern Korean café vibes—clean, stylish, and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, which added to the overall pleasant dining experience.

Final Thoughts
Now I finally understand why this restaurant is always packed and why people are willing to queue for it. After trying it myself, I can confidently say—the chicken really is that good!
Would I come back?
Absolutely. I would come back a hundred more times because the flavour is just that addictive. Rich, bold, saucy… it hits all the right notes for me.
To be totally honest, the spicy level did give me a bit of a stomachache afterwards, but honestly? I don’t even mind. For me, it’s:
“Enjoy the chicken first, deal with the consequences later.” 😂
So yeah, if you’re not a fan of spicy, stick with the mild option—but trust me, no matter which level you pick, K Fry’s chicken is absolutely worth it!
Till my visit…
X, Auri ❤
