I never really paid much attention to FamilyMart before. It was just one of those convenience stores in Malaysia that I’d walk into for a quick snack and leave without thinking much about it.
It is especially known for its Oden, which I have honestly never tried. I know, I know… why haven’t I? It’s literally one of their signature items but yeah… maybe one day I’ll finally give it a try.
If you’ve been to FamilyMart before, you’ll know it also offers a wide range of ready-to-eat Japanese-inspired snacks and grab-and-go meals that can be heated up on the spot. The food isn’t mind-blowing since it’s mostly pre-packed or frozen, but it’s good enough for those moments when you just need something fast and satisfying.
Some outlets even have small seating areas, so you can sit down and enjoy your food comfortably.
One random day at the airport, while I was accompanying my brother, we just needed something quick to drink… and that was when I was introduced to FamilyMart Frappe.
✅ FamilyMart’s Signature Frappes
FamilyMart frappes are basically icy blended drinks, but what makes them special is how they are prepared.
They usually come in a frozen cup that already contains the flavour base inside. You will find different flavours depending on the store and season, but some of the popular ones include
- Chocolate brownie
- Cookies
- Cheesecake
- Mixed berries
- Watermelon & Lychee
What I like about the variety is that it is not just basic options. Some are dessert-style, some are fruity, and some are more chocolate-heavy, so it really depends on your mood.
The texture is what makes it stand out. It’s not just a plain slushy drink. It feels more like a dessert in a cup.

✅ How to Buy a FamilyMart Frappe (Step-by-Step)
The steps are simple.
First, you go to the freezer section and pick a frozen frappe cup. Then you bring it to the counter and pay for it like usual. During payment, hand it to the cashier and let them know which option you prefer: coffee, chocolate, or hot milk (depending on the flavour of the frappe).
The cashier will open the lid and pour your chosen option into the hollow centre of the frozen cup. The mixture is then blended until it becomes smooth and creamy. Some outlets do this automatically, while others may require a bit of manual blending or shaking.
Once it is ready, you get a freshly made iced frappe that is cold, creamy, and smooth.
✅ Price Range
FamilyMart frappes are usually priced around:
- RM 8.90 for most standard flavours
- RM 9.90 to RM 11.40 for yoghurt range and specialty flavours
- Slightly higher for seasonal or premium flavours
The price can vary a bit depending on location and ongoing promotions, but overall it sits in an affordable “treat yourself” range. It is definitely satisfying, especially since it feels more like a dessert than just a regular beverage.
✅ The Taste and My Favourite
I have tried the Chocolate Brownie and Cookies frappes, and both are really enjoyable in their own way. Every time I go, I usually end up choosing between these two.
My favourite is definitely the Chocolate Brownie frappe. It’s rich, creamy, and tastes like an actual dessert. The brownie bits inside make a big difference too. They add a soft, chewy texture that breaks up the smoothness and makes every sip more interesting. I have tried it with both coffee and chocolate options, and I personally prefer it with chocolate because it feels more indulgent.
I also really like the Cookies frappe. The cookie crumbs inside add a light crunch, and the mix of smooth and crunchy textures makes the drink a lot more fun to enjoy.
I haven’t tried the fruity flavours yet, but I feel like I would go for them on a hot day when I want something lighter and more refreshing. I know FamilyMart also introduces seasonal and limited-time flavours from time to time, so I probably need to stop by more often to see what’s new.
✅ Would I Buy It Again?
Absolutely.
Whenever I want a quick treat that feels a little more special than a regular drink, FamilyMart frappes are an easy choice. They’re affordable, satisfying, and perfect for those moments when you’re craving something sweet without spending too much.
