My Staycation Experience at Ibis Hotel, Melaka

I recently travelled to Melaka for work and decided to make the most of my time there by booking a staycation at the Ibis Hotel, Melaka. My decision to stay at this hotel was influenced by its strong reputation and, most importantly, its affiliation with the Accor brand—a name I trust when it comes to quality accommodations. Over the course of my 3-day stay, I had the opportunity to fully experience the hotel and evaluate all aspects of my visit.

Hotel Staff & Service

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the level of service and hospitality provided by the staff. The concierge, in particular, was incredibly welcoming and immediately offered to assist me with my luggage, which was a great help as I had quite a lot to carry.

The check-in process was smooth, though I did notice that the receptionist seemed somewhat unenthusiastic. A warm smile or a friendlier attitude would have enhanced the experience. However, the other staff members more than made up for this. From housekeeping to the waitstaff at the hotel restaurant, everyone I encountered was polite, professional, and genuinely attentive to guests’ needs.

Affordability & Amenities

If you’re looking for an affordable yet comfortable hotel in the heart of Melaka, Ibis Hotel is a great option. It really won’t hurt your wallet. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, featuring comfortable beds, pillows, and bolsters for added comfort. Guests also enjoy complimentary WiFi and a full set of toiletries, including flip-flops, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shower gel. Additionally, each room comes equipped with an iron and ironing board.

One of the highlights of the hotel is its facilities. The hotel’s pool and playground, resembling a mini-water park, are perfect for families with kids. There’s also a small gym conveniently located next to the pool. For guests driving to the hotel, free parking is available near the pool area—a thoughtful convenience in a busy city like Melaka.

Dining at Ibis Kitchen

Ibis Hotel, Melaka, not only offers a comfortable stay but also a delightful dining experience. The hotel’s main restaurant, Ibis Kitchen, serves a variety of local Malaysian dishes alongside international cuisine.

During my stay, I tried their buffet and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of dishes. From Malaysian favourites like nasi lemak, rendang, and laksa to Western classics like pasta, pizza, and grilled meats, there was something for everyone. Each dish was well prepared, with a balanced mix of flavours and spices.

One standout feature was the dessert section. The selection of cakes and traditional ‘kuih’ was impressive—I found myself going back for seconds (and maybe even thirds!). Everything was incredibly tasty, making it a must-try for anyone staying at the hotel.

The buffet is reasonably priced, ranging from RM29-35 nett, which I found to be excellent value for the quality and variety of dishes offered.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the culinary offerings at this hotel. Whether you’re a foodie or simply looking for a satisfying meal, I would definitely recommend checking out the Ibis Kitchen during your stay.

Prime Location & Accessibility

One of the biggest advantages of staying at the Ibis Hotel is its central location. Most of Melaka’s popular tourist attractions, including Jonker Street and the Melaka River, are within a 10-minute walk. Alternatively, if you prefer to use ride-hailing services, a Grabcar ride would only cost you RM5.00.

As I had already explored most of the city’s main attractions, I decided to take a Melaka river cruise to experience something new. The ticket price for the cruise was RM25.00, and while the ride was enjoyable, I personally preferred strolling along the riverbank, taking in the sights at my own pace. Nonetheless, it was a charming way to experience the city from a different perspective.

Final Thoughts

I had a fantastic time during my stay at Ibis Hotel, Melaka. From the warm and helpful staff to the affordable yet comfortable accommodations, the hotel truly exceeded my expectations. The culinary experience at Ibis Kitchen was a highlight, with its diverse selection of delicious dishes catering to every palate.

If you’re planning a trip to Melaka and looking for a convenient, budget-friendly hotel that doesn’t compromise on comfort, I highly recommend the Ibis Hotel.

I look forward to returning for another enjoyable stay.
