I visited Freeport A’Famosa Melaka & I wasn’t too impressed.

Last weekend was the best weekend ever! The Chinese New Year holiday extended until Tuesday, making it a long exciting weekend. My actual plan was to dedicate the entire long weekend to learning video editing, but yeah, sometimes, plans do change. On Saturday, I decided to indulge in some “me time.” I treated myself to a relaxing full-body massage, a rejuvenating facial, and a hair treatment. I also got a fresh haircut and treated myself to some new makeup and beauty products. To top it off, I enjoyed a peaceful and satisfying lunch by myself before heading home.

My plans for the following day, Sunday, took a different turn. I received a text message from my best friend around 9:30 a.m. She excitedly messaged me:

“Hani! Let’s head to Freeport A’Famosa. I checked on Maps, and it’s only an hour’s drive from here. No traffic jam.”

I had some doubts as I knew public holidays often brought heavy traffic, but my friend had been eager to go there all week. So, I responded:

“Alright, let’s do it.”

It was one of the dumbest decisions we’d ever made. The traffic was horrendous. Just getting there took us more than two hours, and neither of us had eaten anything before we left. We also decided not to stop at the rest stop to get something to eat when we saw that there were too many people there. We were really hungry, and we didn’t have any water with us. What a clown. 😂

Before we got there, we had really high hopes and planned to have lunch at the best restaurant there. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find out that there was only one restaurant—which was bustling with diners, and two fast food chains (KFC and Marrybrown), which were also full of diners and absolutely a NO NO NO for both of us because we’ve both already quit eating fast food. Luckily, the place got plenty of food stalls selling snacks. The whole day didn’t go well for us, and it kept raining. It was really disappointing.

We didn’t enjoy the place either. This will be our first and final time visiting here. We won’t be coming here again, like, ever! We like Genting Premium Outlet (GPO) better. However, on the bright side, I managed to get myself a new purse after using an old and worn-out one for a very long time.

If you are interested in coming here to snap Instagram-worthy photos, there are several spots where you can do so. I was also amazed by it. The place is well-maintained, and I have nothing but praise for its quality. Even the restrooms were very clean, despite the large number of visitors. I can see the janitors wandering around to ensure the place is clean and neat. Honestly, there aren’t many exciting high-end stores, but there is a good variety of items available at reasonable prices.

These tasty ice creams made our visit there a little more enjoyable.

After hours of trying, this is the best I could do to fix the terrible shot so you can see my beautiful dress. 😄

 X, Hani. 💙
