8 Realistic Tips to Make Your Hair Grow Faster (From My Personal Journey)

Growing long, healthy hair doesn’t require magic—but it does need consistency, the right care, and patience. If you’re frustrated with slow growth, hair fall, or dry, damaged strands, this guide is for you.

I’ve personally struggled with all of those (dandruff, breakage, dryness, and years of coloring). After trying and testing many products and routines, I finally found what works. This guide is a step-by-step plan to help you grow your hair faster, stronger, and healthier—based on my personal journey.

Step 1: Start With Scalp Care – It All Begins at the Roots

Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp. If your scalp is dry, itchy, or flaky, your hair won’t grow properly.

Action Plan:

1. Shampoo with a scalp-friendly formula
Look for one that targets your hair needs. I personally use Seborin Triple Effect Shampoo—it’s great for dandruff, hair fall, and dry scalp.

2. Use conditioner every time
Conditioner helps seal moisture and prevent breakage. I recommend TRESemmé Keratin Smooth, especially if your hair is dry like mine.

🧴 Tip: Avoid shampoos with sulfates or heavy fragrance if you have sensitive skin.

Step 2: Apply Hair Tonic After Every Wash

Hair tonic helps strengthen the roots and can improve scalp circulation, which encourages faster hair growth.

How to Use:

  1. After washing and towel-drying your hair, part your hair into sections.

  2. Spray hair tonic directly onto your scalp.

  3. Gently massage it with your fingertips (2–3 minutes).

Do this after every wash. You’ll start noticing reduced hair fall and healthier regrowth.

Step 3: Take a Break From Hair Coloring

I know, this one’s tough—especially if you love colored hair. But bleaching and coloring damage the hair shaft and slow down growth.

I made the decision to stop coloring my hair so it could grow back healthy. Instead of reaching for the dye, try:

  • Wearing a hair scarf or headband to switch up your look

  • Trying temporary color sprays that wash out easily

Your hair will thank you later!

Step 4: Take Biotin Supplements Consistently

Biotin is a B vitamin that plays a key role in healthy hair growth. It strengthens the hair from within and helps reduce shedding.

✅ What to Take:

  • Supplement: Natrol Biotin Plus

  • Dosage: Follow the label (usually once daily, after meals)

🔍 Make sure to consult your doctor if you’re taking other meds.

Step 5: Pre-Shampoo Oil Massage (It Makes a Big Difference!)

Massaging your scalp with oil improves blood circulation, which helps deliver nutrients to your hair follicles.

What to Do:

  • 30 minutes before shampooing, massage your scalp using one of these:

    • Coconut oil (hydrates and nourishes)

    • Castor oil (promotes thickness)

    • Argan oil (adds shine)

  • Focus on the scalp and roots, not just the hair strands.

🌿 Even if you’re short on time, a quick 3–5 minute massage is better than none.

Step 6: Boost Growth with a Hair Serum

Hair serums aren’t just for smoothness—they can actually stimulate root activity.

✅ What I Recommend:

  • Product: Schwarzkopf Scalp Genesis Root Activating Serum

How to Use:

  • Apply to the scalp after towel-drying your hair.

  • Use 2–3 times per week for best results.

Step 7: Ditch Heat Styling (As Much As You Can)

Heat tools like blow dryers and curling irons break down the hair structure, causing split ends and thinning.

Better Habits:

  • Air-dry your hair whenever possible.

  • If you must use heat, always apply a heat protectant spray beforehand.

Your natural texture might surprise you—in a good way!

Step 8: Try Lavender Essential Oil for Extra Growth Support

Lavender oil isn’t just relaxing—it’s also known to promote hair growth and soothe the scalp.

How I Use It:

  • Mix a few drops of lavender essential oil with a carrier oil (like coconut or jojoba).

  • Massage into your scalp 2–3 times per week.

  • You can leave it on overnight or rinse in the morning.

Bonus: Your hair will smell amazing!

Final Reminders: What You Must Keep in Mind

Before you try anything, remember this:

Consistency is key – Doing a routine for a few days won’t help. Stick with it for 2–3 months to start seeing results.

Everyone’s hair grows at a different pace – Genetics, hormones, stress, and diet all play a role. Don’t compare.

Don’t stress the small stuff – If you skip a step one day, it’s okay. Just get back on track the next day.

❤️ Real Talk From Me to You

I know how frustrating it is to feel like your hair isn’t growing. I’ve cried over breakage, I’ve regretted bad cuts, and I’ve wasted money on products that didn’t work.

But when I simplified my routine, focused on scalp care, and gave my hair time—things changed.

You can do this too.

Until then, take care of your beautiful hair and be patient with yourself. 🌿💛
